My gear & me

Hi, I'm Mick, a photography enthusiast based in Amersfoort, Netherlands.

I picked up a camera for the first time in 2024, starting out with my dad's old Nikon D700. What began as borrowing gear quickly turned into a full-blown hobby. I shoot mostly animals, nature, street, and action, with a soft spot for pet photography and zoo visits. Still learning, always practicing.

When I'm not behind the camera you'll find me working in IT as a Linux DevOps engineer, playing (bass) guitar, gaming, or listening to punk and psychedelic rock.

I share my home in Amersfoort with my wife and our cat Cosmo. Fair warning: if you follow me here or on Instagram, you will see a lot of Cosmo.

Micktures is a blend of my name and "pictures", simple as that.
